Methuselah's name is used to name the oldest known thing. For example, the Methuselah star is the nickname of the oldest star know to scientists. It is estimated to be about 14.5 billion years old, which would make this star older than the universe itself. The Methuselah tree is the oldest living tree, found in California. It is almost 5,000 years old. The name Methuselah invokes the thought of something old, or lasting, which makes it a perfect name for the Methuselah Foundation, a non-profit organisation that focuses on improving regenerative medicine to make people stay active longer with the goal of having 90 year-olds be as healthy as 50 year-olds.

Methuselah is used in the song "Razzle Dazzle" in Chicago to show that since the times of yore, people have always enjoyed being lied to. Andrew Hudgens writes about the difference between being a boy and being an old man in his poem "Blur". The use of Methuselah is everywhere, and now relates to old age, and experience.
